To answer that question, we need to know where you found the spoon and what were you were told about it. There were 2 U-23’s. The WWI U-23 was lost on 20 July 1915 in the North Sea east of Firth of Forth. The WWII U-23 was scuttled by her crew in the Black Sea on 10 September 1944. The hulk was discovered by a Turkish diver in January or February of 2008. What bothers me is that the U-23 stamp on the spoon is very sloppy. Dwight
Hello Dwight ! This spoon is selling now on auction. Table ware with Weimar eagle was used until 1936-37 year
Samland; The eagle is probably original, but not the U-22 that was stamped on the handle using individual letter and number dies. It looks to me like a clumsy fake that destroyed a perfectly good collectible item. But that is just my opinion. Hopefully another member will weigh in on this thread. Dwight
I have no experience with ww1 navy table ware however I agree with Dwight's assessment.
I have a ww2 SS spoon and the markings are sharp and well defined.

Chopperman; I recognize the SS but what do the other letters represent? That is a nice looking utensil . Dwight
The spoon was taken from the SS school at Bad Tolz.
The best guess is that the T signifies Tolz.
