I have discovered a nasty Nazi piece of memorabilia.
It is a wooden box with carved SS initials on the lid and scratched inscriptions on the
other wood surfaces.
I can make out the grossaktion and Juden in April but the 16 in the date is puzzling.
There is also mention of some camps and Warsaw.
The Gestapo shield with a name on the rear is I believe a luggage tag and was glued
to the base inside the box.
Is it a camp guards grisly reminder of his war?
Any information would be gratefully received about this sick item.
Thank you.
Very odd piece
I'd rather be A "RaD Man than a Mad Man "

There's certainly a lot going on there....
Odd that the amount of work that went into it, the lid is so oversized.
Can you show the interior of the box please?
The wording just seems to be a little too much. It's definitely a curious thing.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Adrian, any concern that the The Gestapo shield has a 'M ' prefix in the RZM category and is totally bogus and the top looks like a high school wood class project gone wrong, it's even an ashtray on top.

Pieced together fake and fantasy items.

I don't like it and believe it's a completely fantasy piece. I absolutely don't see a real guard or gestapo or any german making this. Quality is not good and trying to hit to many areas. High school woodshop is probably correct.

This is a complete fantasy.

I can't believe an SS man would be inscribing Dirlewanger and Kaminski and reference the Warsaw uprising and the Jewish notation all in one box.
There is simply too much to be believable and add the crudeness of the carving, the mismatched lid and you have an abhorration of an item.
Gwar, I genuinely have no idea about the Gestapo item or the RZM code. These things are outside of my knowledge.

In German I would call it "Schmodder".

Thank you for the manifold replies. The varied, but excellent, range of knowledge on this forum is the reason I put these items up for evaluation. After the pointing out of the many contradictions involved in this fake it seems that there is somewhere a cottage industry devoted to knocking these things out.
I have not passed on to the owner what I have learned here but simply conveyed the fact
that it is a most unusual, and unique piece.
Thank you all.
