totenkopf knopf schimmel or 17th/21st Lancers button mold

Just needed to have thise die!
But not sure what it is, the construction and the numbers type make me think it is German, but for what use would such buttons been made...Freikorpsen ?
I was thinking at the buttons of the 17th/21st Lancers, but the eyes shape are different....
Any on else a idea?

The code number is similar to a lot of the items in the Assmann reprinted catalogue.

This is just one of the pages with skulls and buttons...note the similar numbering series to your mould...It is definitely German/European numerals rather than Brit

It looks Frei-Korps to me , but that's only a guess . Do you have the press to make buttons with it ? They'd look great on a suit ! Black of course . Nice item .
