BF109E Wheel

[VERSUCH]

I bought this quite a while ago,its the port main wheel for
a BF109E. Seeing only 1 ever came to Australia,its 99%
sure th be from Yellow 7 a Bf109e-3,from 3/JG3 shot
down at Wychling in Kent 5 September1940.
It was sent out raising money for the British Bombing Victims,Red
Cross and the Australian Comforts Fund.
It was broken up at Laverton after the War. And this
is believed to be the last bit of it!

On the subject of German aircraft wheels, ...
Just after WW2, when German industry was trying to get back on it's feet, ... some of the Aircraft manufacturers like Dornier and Heinkel, turned over their production to farm equipment.
Obviously the bodyworking in aluminium were similar to the aircraft production, .... but for a few years stockpiles of the alloy wheels and tires from the wartime were designed into the farm machinery, .. and thus there were combine harvesters running on original WW2 German bomber wheels and tyres !!

Does anyone have any other interesting aircraft parts in their collection? I have a friend that collects Japanese aircraft instruments and guages. I'll ask him for some pics.
