Garbage find from yesterday!
hkp62 M42 Luftschutz helmet was wrapped in a 1944 dated US Army medical blanket and stuffed into a 1945 dated dufflebag!
This is the third luftschutz lid I've found in the trash. First was a candy apple red painted biker-converted helmet, second was the lid I traded for a few yards of mulch and now this!
ManOMan you are finding some great stuff. It is a shame it is found in the trash, but awesome for you. That is a win win win there both a US army med blanket and duffel bag with a Luft shultz helmet. So is the helmet complete?

Helmet is complete but the liner is ersatz with 3 leather pads and a plastic chinstrap. Split pins are tight. Decal is in pretty good shape with some crazing and surface rust on the exterior of the helmet.

I still have the "mulch helmet" Joe and still enjoy taking it off the shelf and imagining its history.
This one's liner has a WW1 look to it.
