I desperately wish the shovel had not been repainted. I think it sticks out like a sore thumb like this.

I just came home from a movie with my sister. My dad said this canteen was found by one of our workers:

Cover is French, I am assuming? Canteen is clearly marked Japan.

A current 'camping' type canteen. I believe these could be
produced by a company called 'World Famous'.

It is so sad to see a Purple Heart Medal tossed away
into the garbage. The culprit should be spanked !

What about the cover? It appears to be marked Rouen, (France?) and 194(4?)

This is the second cased, complete purple heart I've found. I have also found a complete modern Bronze Star...

The cover is French, but I'm thinking 1960's. Not sure, so maybe
someone with more info will chime in.........!

After reading this entire thread, if you found a Sherman tank in there I wouldn't be surprised, or have you found a couple already?

PS: I am also putting up a sign at work asking for WWII items, great idea it was!

I agree with Steve, it really is a shame to find the Purple Heart in the trash. Some people are just too stupid to have any respect. A German helmet or something I can understand, but come on, doesn't everyone know what a Purple Heart is?
