Was there a helmet in the pile? The injuries might be worth it
Hello, all!
I'm working the Saturday shift before leaving for a weekend away with the missus. A customer saw my sign and asked if I could tell him more about a "snow helmet" he had on the shelf at home. A few hours later he came back and showed me this:
It's just your standard Office of Civil Defense helmet. Worth MAYBE $20 on a good day. I told him what it is, and that it was used by air-raid wardens, airplane spotters, etc. during WWII and saw use into the Cold War. He was thankful for the information, and I was glad to help.
My first post on this forum, and I've just read the whole thread.
Thank you for showing all these photo's and story's of your findings! Good job to save the items from destruction.
I worked in a Antiqueshop and a year ago I was cleaning a house with my boss, then at the garbage place was a guy with a military hat and he threw it in the garbage can.
Quickly I grab the hat out of the garbage can and it was a french military cap from World War 1.
Sometimes you can have some luck, but you have a lot of luck!
Best Regards
Vegard T.
