I got a g98 1916 rifle from a friend as an antique gift. it only has the barrel and wooden frame, no fire mechanism and im wondering if it needs to be registered or if it is illegal to have?

What country do you live in?
Ontario Canada.
Nope, it does not need to be registered if here in the US. Not sure in Canada.

I THINK you should be fine... but I am an American citizen and not familiar with Canadian law. It may also depend on whether or not you are an adult.
Thanks but i really need help with Canada, its a big deal if i can keep it or not.
Here is a link to check out: A Practical Guide to Canada's Gun Laws for Americans Can you post a picture of the rifle?
Regards, Corey
I cannot get a picture of it at the moment, But i can tell you it is literally the following. 1. Wooden frame (nothing attatched) and 2. the barrel with an attatched trigger. It is in very poor condition, rusty and definitely not workable. No firing mechanism or anything else. So in all it is two pieces. a chunk of wood and a metal pole. haha.
Try not to worry. I'm pretty sure you have nothing to worry about... especially if it's in poor condition.
In Canada the gun no longer needs to be registered, however,in order to aquire a firearm you need a firearms licence known as a PAL,or possession and aquisition licence, check with the RCMP...Pete.
