Hi all, got this the other day, big, curved, bowie blade. All the markings I can see are **** and sons, Sheffield, no2 on the blade. Any ideas?
Cheers.

Not a knife I recognise as being military.
Cheers, Ade.
Looks very indian in shape? Or even chinese? Good luck
I believe it to be a large Skinning Knife, the blade and handle are like the ones i have seen before. Do a google image search and you will see what i mean.
Donnie
I'm with Donnie on this one. I have seen this type of knife used in Africa. It is a skinning blade of a unusually large size (No.2), used on big game. An experienced hand can skin an elephant or rhino in a little over an hour using this type of blade. Notice the hefty grip, not made for fine work!
Regards, Ned.
If Possible ,Could you post pic's of the Markings
Where are they and how are they applied?
Etched? Stamped?
It looks kinda homemade sorta.
that is an gurka combat knife
Sorry, but I have to disagree with you. The Gurka's knife, the Kukri, is a different design.
History of the Ghurka Khukri

Sheffield cutleries produces any kind of blade. I honestly think it has nothing to do with a military knife. It might be a skinner, as already said, for civilian market
