This is a reproduction of a Testőr Dísztőr which translates as Bodyguard Dress Dagger. These daggers were worn by the bodyguard unit assigned to protect the Hungarian Governor-Regent Nicholas Horthy.
The handful of originals that remain in existence very seldom appear on the market. When they do come-up for sale, they command staggering sums of money.
These repros are made by Ungar & Horvath and feature an acid-etched/engraved blade and fake makers mark that this company uses on virtually all of its repro daggers. The originals had very plain steel blades that were chrome plated, plus the detailing and workmanship were far superior

Thank you so much! I appreciate. Where did you get all the information about Ungar & Horvath? There is little information on the internet

This information is common knowledge among experienced Hungarian collectors.
Ungár és Horváth Fémmüvek Kft has been reproducing dress daggers and badges for many, many decades now. Their products include Hungarian and Austrian enameled pilot and para badges as well as Hungarian Air Force, Firefighter and River Patrol dress daggers.
Hungarian collectors won't even go near dress daggers anymore because of the thousands of repros that have flooded the market. This proliferation of fakes has seriously brought down the value of even the originals.
A well known Hungarian-American dealer toured the U&H factory in Budapest and personally saw the original dies of the daggers mentioned above. Somehow the original dies ended up in their hands but instead of plain chrome blades (like the originals had) they began producing etched, gold washed, and engraved fantasy blades featuring made-up names just like we see on your dagger.
I am a long-time collector of Hungarian militaria. My father, grandfather and 2 uncles were Hungarian officers and that is where my interest in WW2 Hungarian material came from. If you want to keep-up with the latest developments and knowledge in this field of collecting, I suggest you join and participate in one of the online Hungarian forums.
