I know it's not Spanish but I would love to find one of these brass Cuban belt buckles.
I have the steel ones like this and the FAR version but the brass ones elude me.

It is a nice Legion buckle but no way to say if it was used by Blue Division. Those buckles are associated with the legion in sub Saharan Africa. Everything I've seen indicates Blue division used the standard eagle, falange or German Heer buckle. That's not to say it isn't possible since the Spaniards had a tendency to use an assortment of German & Spanish insignia in an unconventional manner that was often overlooked by the German command.
Thank you Aldo.
I like to be educated so as not to sound like a fool.
The part about the Blue Division was in the sellers description.
The buckle came out of a former Warsaw Pact country. I'm guessing it had kicking around those parts for the last 75 years.
Would you happen to know what color belt this buckle would have been on-brown or black?
It's always hard to date these Spanish items for lack of reference books so i always have to rely on presence or lack of crowns. That is to say that yours lacks a crown on the belt so it is from the Franco era, 1940's until 1970's. Yours looks like an older one so i would guess it's WWII era or immediately post war. I believe they were worn with a green canvas belt but Legionnaires are shown wearing black and brown belts as well. Your guess is as good as mine
ALDO,
Is there a thread for Franco era wings?
I think I picked up an old pair and would like opinions.
Not that I'm aware of. Start a new one, I'd like to see it. I have a few listed throughout my Spanish collection thread but not all on one page.
Spanish Civil War / Blue Division Volunteer Collection
Hi Aldo
I collect German and Spanish from WWII, I have just got hold of some belt buckles, I also thought they belonged only to the civil war, and when I "google" them there are different opinions/ periods, Civil War, Franco and Juan Carlos. I will attach mine, one of them has the known marker Cereceda and one of the belts has the name Gezman Gutierre Muñoz. 4 of the buckles still has the profile, and some of the others has been worn/ polished down by time. I certainly think some of mine are from the civil war, especially the one with the mark Cereceda. I will also attach some of my other spanish stuff in another tread. I do not have much, it is hard to get hold of Spanish Civil war things, there are a lot of German WWII stuff. Regards John
