Just got two M35 shells with no liners, one is MAVAG66 and the other one is most likely a GY looking at the rivets.

The MAVAG is painted green but M. KIR. POSTA is clearly visible under the thin paint. Are these post helmets more valuable than a standard army one?

Quite Finnish repair thing done with that helmet.
Hungarian chinstrap, but with German m/31 helmet liner installed by the depot into it.
If it fits, it sits.
It is also re-painted by the Finnish army depot, not Hungarian helmet factory paint color.

I had one of these years ago purchased on eBay when I first started collecting. Didn't know what I had and sold it for a pittance. I assumed it had a repaint and a refitting

Always wondered is shell genuine DM 66 and those double stamps? Repainted and depot repaired interior for sure in Finland.

Hello, double stamping can happen by mistake as in your Hungarian M35/38 shell exported to Finland starting in 1941. DM stands for Magyar Allami Vas-,Acélés Gépgyar manufacture located in Budapest. 66 is the size code for 58/59 cm, Large. Strangely your helmet doesn't seem to have additional front split pins to hold the new liner. Over the years different levels of refurbishing took place with these helmets so an interesting variety does exist.

Speaking of the variety of refurbished Finnish M35/38 helmet, here is my version.











As most of this model it was also refurbished in the mid 50s or later.
At first look it is easy to see with the additional split pins & washer.




Those new split pins holds the headband where the leather cradle is attached.
Not seen are circular cork spacers between the shell & the headband.
Of German design this system was also manufactured in Finland as this one.





New chinstrap are attached directly to the headband.


This model of chinstrap was manufactured in Finland by Friitala Nahka Oy.


This shell is a DM 64, The D & 64 are almost invisible.

Yes you are right. Theres lot of variety existing, and no additional front pins in my piece.

Nice strap Jack! Yes leatherband was made by Friitalan Nahkatehdas Oy, which located in city of Ulvila.
*Edit* Googled and 1946 company name changed/shortened to Friitalan Nahka Oy, so you Jack are correct.
