Default Canadian Second Generation CG-634 Combat Helmet System

One I needed to fill a gap in my collection the Canadian second generation CG634 composite helmet these were produced by Mine Safety Appliance ( MSA ) in the United States with either Spectra which is a patented product of the Honeywell corporation and or Aramid (Kevlar) was used in later production models they have been ballistic tested at a minimum of v50 of 634 m/s..
It mates a modified French design, based on the PASGT, but was adapted for compatibility with Canadian equipment ( headset, respirator, vision devices, and armoured vest ) the suspension system combines a thick foam trauma liner with a rubber and nylon webbing suspension based on the French Mle-78 ( Gallet TC-3 )... The CG-634 has a 3-point chinstrap retention system with flip down adjustable buckles for an enhanced fit..
There are a few small details one can use when visually comparing the 1'st and 2'nd generation examples to tell them apart one of which is the protective wrap that surrounds the rim of the helmet body which will be found as black rubber on the 1'st generation CG-634, The protective wrap on the 2'nd generation CG-634 as produced by MSA was moulded in the same green colour as the helmet body and was manufactured from plastic as opposed to rubber as found on the 1'st gen helmets ...
One other easy way to tell the difference is that the female receiving end of the duel tab fold in buckle will be found found stamped with the ( MSA ) company logo ...
This particular example is in well worn condition and is dated 08/09/06 it has been field painted in a tan colour with a brownish camouflage over spray... I am of the opinion that either a camouflage net and or laundry bag was used during the application process there are period images to support that this type of camo was used early on in the Afghanistan war by Canadians, Germans, Americans and the Netherlands it has been loosely referred to as snake skin..
