Default 9th USAAF airfield detector find.

I have been very lucky to be given permission to search an area of a airfield used by the USAAF Ninth Air Force to provide tactical air support for the ground forces landing in France. It is known that on the 17th April 1944 the 354th fighter group arrived with their P-51 Mustangs. The landowner was a boy at the time and remembers where they billeted in tents, where the cook house was and lots of other details. Within minutes we were finding some interesting items, coins, badges, ammo etc. I intend on doing a more complete thread outlining the history and our discoveries but almost immediately we found this oddity and need help identifying this American St Christopher.

That's a nice find!! It clearly is made for airforce personnel with the wings at the top. But I don't really know any thing else about it apart from its really nice and I wish I had found it. Ha.

Shame it's not a st Anthony ( patron saint of missing things )

Thank you for the replies and sebfrench76 for the link. A good comparison for 'then and now'. I wonder if it is the same company.
