Airfield Find
Hi all, found this object on the site of an old ww2 airfield that was used for bomber training and Horsa glider training. I have no idea what it is. Its quite heavy though and kinda looks like a giant, blunt needle with an eye at the top.
If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated.

It's a sash weight out of the same called window.

I recall sach weights being smaller in length, but probably wrong, must have been a bloody big window.

Not really, many airfields had hardcore transported in for building the runway and peritracks foundations. This was usually blitz rubble. Many of the Essex airfields for instance, used rubble from London. So, depending on the location of your airfield, find the nearest source. I have found all manner of items including sash weights in fields where runways and peritracks have been torn up
