Another airfield detector find.

This unusual silver item was found close to where we found the American St Christopher on the USAAF airfield. I'm pretty sure it is a sweetheart brooch but my question is what does the design signify? Jewelry design often has some symbolism and many sweetheart brooches are given by specific regiments etc.
It is interesting in that it can be worn as a broach or on a chain.

Wow ... really nice find .... its a US Army marksmanship qualification badge ... sharpshooter to be precise. Very very nice!

Is it a marksmans badge? The rings are to attach a bar stating the category that the recipiant is a marksman in ie PISTOL RIFLE, MORTAR, etc.
