Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

hi
this is more pics of my favourite helmet
from GORSHKOWITZI , SSDD TK with interesting story,
helmet was originaly dug by WAST team in 1990s
remains of soldier and a few other MIAS were removed
for reburial..helmet was thrown back in hole.then on 10.11.06
after learning from villagers that remains had been removed
diggers returned to see if anything was left in way of military items
so helmet was dug for second time along with remains of cavalry
boot scarred by shrapnel hits..helmet is very battledamaged with numerous entry holes, even cammo clip is damaged.remmnants of cover on shell also. interestingly there is also bullet entry to back of helmet shown clearly as neat round hole on liner..
perhaps he was mortaly wounded by shrapnel and given coup de grace by his comrades ?? for me it is a sad and poignant reminder
of the cost of war.at least he was found and reburied...
cheers
