Amazing thread. Thanks for all the details, all the pictures. I'm awestruck.
Thank you for save the memory of all theses soldiers.
You do an incredible job.
Really interesting ring and one of the best posts I've seen! Regarding the ring, it's not basks national ring, it's the chains of the shield of the ancient kingdom of Navarra. A bit of history: These chains were in the shield since the battle of "las Navas de Tolosa" in 1212 won by the coalition of christians kings of the Iberian Peninsula and knights from other parts of Europe and Military Orders (such Templars/Calatrava/etc) against the almohads, which represented a serious menace for Europe. It's been said that during the battle the King Sancho VII "the Strong", reach the tent of the caliph Muhámmad an-Násir (known also in Spain as Miramamolín free transcript in spanish of Amir al-Mu'minin which means Prince of Believers). His tent was sorrounded by slave-fighters, chained together to fight until the end. Sancho and his men make the way to the tent and break the chains, which since then are part of the kingdom of Navarra, and now part of the shield of Spain.
