I found the following item some time ago while digging with a friend.
My friend found some parachute harnas items near this item.
Any idea what this could be?

Hi Dave,

Thanks I have tried to find a picture of the piece you are describing but no luck yet :-)
I posted this item as well on another site and someone said it might be part of climbing tools ( climbing telephone poles and trees )
I hope I will get a positive ID for this object :-)

Heres an idea, can some one with the relevant software, download the photo, take the left half and reverse it onto the right, I cant help but think its some sort of spring suspension abit like leaf springs. How srong / large is it?
