It was a looong day in the woods today, but I made some very good finds, and even though my boots are still wet and my fingers sore from digging and prying loose rocks I hope to be out there again very soon

Thanks. Yep, will post the cleaned helmets here

This weekends trip went to a small german camp where it was both soldiers, engineers and POWs. I found helmets, an edelweiss badge and a wire baton prehaps used by a guard or kapo. Quite a dark find on a partly sunny day.

I might just invest in one...
Quite so, never go hunting without the Garrett carrot!

    Default Anchor and Nautical Star.

Inka, looking at that cleaned up shaving cup, the engraving looks to me like a ships anchor, with a nautical star in the middle?..

Quite a popular tattoo as well.

I think it might be a Navy soldier who made the engravings.

I went to the forest today and set the detector to "helmet". Totally unreal sitting in the ditch pulling out lid after lid

I was trying the find the name in the archives but I have not come across this name as being a naval soldier. There are many with the exact same name Petr Isakovich Pushin (пушин петр исакович) but so far I didn't find any of them serving this far up north. Perhaps he is indeed a naval soldier serving in a Rifle Division but because his naval background his documents are not yet available or even still classified. Very nice and interesting cup
