Has that ammunition been fired by a Bren gun, going by the rectangular firing pin strike?

I would agree with your observation re a Bren gun . I find heaps of these fired shells in this areas that I work ~

Fantastic finds mate..the tripods are not too common to find for sale here in aus and if you do find them are certainly not cheap,nice one!
