I think your French resistance theory is quite possible as .25 caliber has never
been the primary arm of any nation. Something like a FN 'Baby Browning'
automatic is very easy to conceal, But deadly at close range.

Just some guessing on my part, but the 'C - 4' that you describe may
    actually be '40' = 1940. 'E - T' = Etienne ?......French manufacture ?

I have a couple of FN .380 or 9mm short casings from a German PPK pistol
a friend of my late father had been given upon the surrender of a German
soldier in WWII Europe. I watched the little gun being fired several times
in 1970 or '71 and made a scramble for the cases.

    Regards, Steve.
