Perhaps it was a little "insurance policy" during the break-up of the FRY (Former Republic of Yugoslavia) to use a NATO expression?
I expect there are many more items like this waiting to be found. I am sure you will be careful but it is always worth pointing out that a lot of people buried some fairly "exciting" stuff during that period
My souvenir from that conflict is simply a very benign steel helmet

I dont think its hidden more than lets say 5-8 years. I took all the bullets since i have a legal 98k and all but the ones that had rusted strupper clips remains on them are ok and fired.
