    I found this mess kit on Castle Hill near the Abby of Monte Cassino a bunch of years ago. What type is it? I do not believe it is German as it is larger than a standard German mess kit. No lid, no markings that I can see. The attachment points for the handle are also different than the standard German mess kit. Maybe Polish? It looks to be painted black and has a huge shrapnel tear in the rear. Fire away:
