    Default metal detector find

    Hi guys.

Now the snow has gone I managed to explore a bit with my detector. What I found was probably a bit to early for this site but some might find them interesting anyway so I hope no one minds me posting. I believe what I have is a nearly complete set of uniform tunic buttons from the Royal Ordinance dating from around 1810. i can imagine the poor soldier who lost this tunic was painting coal white and peeling potatoes for a long time.

Thanks for the replies. i'm lucky in that since history began Kent has been the gateway to most invaders an traders. Most trips I will find bullet cases an plenty of shrapnel which brings home what a big battle was fought over our green fields in WW2. Of course the key to success is research.

Just a quick update... Research suggests these are Generic Issue - 2nd Pattern
Officer & O/R's - 1790-1802 Royal Regiment of Artillery (ordnance shield) buttons.
