Pictures would be the only way to positively ID these Judaz but.......

The top batch all appear to be .30 calibre, mainly used by the Americans. The numbers are the manufacturing year, the lettering the manufacturers code.

Most of the ones in the second list appear to be German 7.92 cartridges. Certainly all the ones with 'P' codes are, as are the ones with the three letter codes. The 'S' stands for brass casing, the dates of manufacture are between 1936 and 1944 and the other numbers are batch numbers.

    Hope that helps

Yep, American 30 cal. You can find what the letter codes refer to in the link cornishboy has given you. Off the top of my head, DM is Des Moines, LC is Lake City, RA is Remington Arms, SL maybe Salt Lake but I can't remember them all off the top of my head !

Look them up !! I have an encyclopaedic knowledge of Allied headstamps I'll have you know

Actually I only happen to remember these as I have been recently researching some .50 cals from a B-17 crash site in Suffolk that I picked up a few weeks ago during a stroll across the field (can't get permission to use the detector though )

    cheers
