Hi all, found this lamp on an old RAF base, was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about date, use etc. The base was used from the 1930s to the 1990s.
Thanks.

It's a motor vehicle headlamp - they were very common as surplus items a few years ago and autojumble dealers ground the clips off to make them suitable for vintage civilian vehicles - not sure exactly which vehicle they fitted originally - sorry!
the head light you have was used from the 1950s--1980s on armoured vehicles
from centurion ,mk2 chieftain ,ferret
that one being from an raf base is probably from a sarracen apc ,, the raf had quite a few of them that they used for foward obsevation or army liason
you note that the lamp was originaly gloss olive green ,and has been over painted with irr nato green (the flakey stuff)
cheers ian
