I was detecting today and came across this. I did some research on this and I keep finding that it is a dummy/practice grenade. Why in the world would this be in the back woods of my house here in Germany? It was barely covered as well. We just brushed aside the leaves and half of it was sticking out.

Quite possible, but all there is around me is farm villages and fields. Doesn't seem like a place the military would come to and throw around some grenades.

Sounds to me as exactly the place the military would use for an exercise.

Sparsely populated enviroment = less people to annoy.

Of course they have to pay for damage to corn fields, but trust me; the German government has quite a lot of experience in that 'field.' (no pun intended),

If they like the countryside, they could easily have come from afar.
