Have today received confirmation from Oliver's bother, Ed, that the photo is indeed of Oliver R Jelks Jnr.
This has become especially important as, despite many hours of looking, Ed could not find a picture of his brother in uniform. This picture of Oliver will now be added to the family album.
I am very pleased with being able to return the watch and inadvertently find a picture that the family have never seen !

this has been one hell of a thread mate it gave me goose bumps just reading this cant imagine the feelings you've been through, through this whole saga. just to think that this one item could have created such a great outcome for both you & his family not only was you able to track them down & return such a personal item to them but to top it off you also found them a picture they had never seen before of him great job mate im blown away
Well done. Love it when things get re-united with families. Must mean a lot to them i,m sure.
What you have lived trough your research is surely uncommon...Thanks to have shared it with us,you built a bridge over the past...Congratulations Steve!
There was a very small mention of "a watch found by a metal detector on a Cambridgeshire airfield being returned to the owner's family" in the News of the World today.
I'm presuming it's related.
All the best,
PB
