10/10 Paul. Im a very happy chappy,
Andy.
Thanks Steve. Its just great to get things identified. Alot of my finds end up in a local museum so it helps me so much to ID them otherwise im just handing over random bits of metal.
Andy
The spindle with the machined face & three holes is part of the supercharger waste gate, a single circular butterfly valve was bolted to this & would pivot through 90 deg, this was all contained within a circular housing & fixed to the rear flange on the supercharger unit, in most cases the very last component of the exhaust system unless it had a flame damper.
I have a pile of complete ones here & will endeavour to put a picture up.
That explains why it's unlisted in the B-17 Parts Catalog.
Superchargers, amongst other items, were GFE items thus had their own seperate parts list.

Abit of a strange one, It came from the same hole i think it is made of copper it has no marks or numbers.
Thanks for that Bird Dog thats great!!
Now onto some of todays finds. Havent had time to clean them yet but if any of you could ID them it would be great. Is the piece of tube from a B17 chin turret?
Andy.
Tube is chin turret barrel sleeve, fits behind the zippered canvas in the slots.
Rack with cutouts is an oxygen cylinder rack from the flight deck, alongside the upper turret.
Will get photos of my examples up shortly.
