Default Strange Luftwaffe find on a old WW2 USAAF UK Airbase - any ideas

I found a few months ago a what I think is a Propeller Pitch Indicator mount from a ME109 or Heinkel 110. The find was made while I was walking around deenethorpe airbase in Northamptonshire. I find this really odd as I am not aware of any luftwaffe planes that crashed in this area. Does anybody know if downed luftwaffe planes were recovered and taken to airbases like Deenethorpe to be striped and studied?? This is my only reasoning for why this part might have been on this location.

The reason I believe its from one of the above mentioned airplanes is because it is identical to the mount on this item.

The part really looks like it has been in the wars (literally).

I look forward to any info or ideas on why this was found there

Certainly appears to be the same part, if in somewhat used and abused condition. I don’t know if enemy aircraft were examined at Deenethorpe needs some research doing I think.

Yes definitely - I was hoping someone might know something on here - this is the only part I have ever found that was german but I have also found 2 k98 casings at Deenethorpe as well.
