TRAVEL : Visiting Holland and Serbia - Where should I go?

Hello folks,

I'm spending 4 months in Europe this summer. I'll be staying in Amsterdam, Holland for 3 months and Belgrade, Serbia for 1.

Where should I go and what should I see in those regions while I'm there? Battlefields? Good museums?

Anybody know any good militaria / surplus stores or marketplaces to visit in that region as well?

Amsterdam itself has the Anne Frank museum. Not sure what you want to see on a battlefield but there are several in Holland, for instance the area where operation Market Garden took place (around Arnhem and Nijmegen). There are tours and several museums around Arnhem (for instance the Airborne museum Welkom op onze website Airborne Museum 'Hartenstein' - Airborne Museum).
Also a nice museum to visit is Oorlogsmuseum Overloon. It's in the south east part of the Netherlands on a former battlefield.
If you're in Amsterdam for a couple of months and you have a car (or can rent one), you should be able to visit lots of former battlefields, not just in Holland. For instance the Belgium Ardennes and the german Eifel (battle of the Bulge, the german Westwall, and Battle of Hurtgenwald) is just a couple of hours drive.

There's the new National Military Museum at Soesterberg, and as mentioned above lots of things to do in Ardennes and Hürtgenwald regions which are just over the border.

You can take the Streetcar to Zandfoort, to the Beach...There are Atlantik-Wall Bunkers on the Beach you can check out...
