    Hi Dimas, that is a good guess, but I don't think it is correct?

    I should have mentioned that the cap is only 50mm in diameter and I also found 5 of them all in the same location.

    I'm sure I saw it somewhere. I have to look through my boxes of unidentified scrap finds in the garage. From the rivets, I would also say it's german though.

    I have absolutely the same in shape but soviet, in small cannister for fuel, about 50 liter tank, which I use for keeping fuel
    Probably this is the same...

    maybe an engine valve cap. ive got one on my truck that looks like that.

    Nah.....I tell you what it looks like to me but you're not gonna like it.

    ...............

    ...it looks the cap from the end of a flourescent tube. Or possibly the base from a battery compartment of some kind.

    Just my thoughts....
