Extremely interesting piece, with similar You should ask Rennoux or Mery or other experts of French area. Looks like a cadet or school piece for smaller rifle.

Someone's home workshop project possibly. The blade looks like it comes from shortened sword blade.

It is possible that the Assembly consists of different parts. Blade, hilt, crosspiece. Number-A243, as Arsenal? I looked at French books on bayonets, but I didn't find anything like it.

I apologize for the incorrect data. Updated data: Total length: 480 mm
    Blade length: 390 mm
Inner diameter of the ring in the crosspiece: 17 mm

Yes, it's quite odd. The crossguard is brass, I assumed steel from the earlier photos. I'm thinking now it may be a commercially produced "kinder bayonet", child sized swords and bayonets were made by some Solingen makers. It has the appearance of a Gras bayonet but shorter, only 48cm long compared with 64cm length in Gras bayonet. The scabbard length here looks like about 45 cm versus 53cm for the Gras bayonet. The hilt looks also smaller in proportion.
