It kind of looks 1898 Krag-ish to me .
But slight modified. I'll have to research more.

Thanks Phil, it looks like the cross guard might have been altered, buts it’s hard to tell it this condition.
Cheers
Swiss M1899 altered as well ?
I'd rather be A "RaD Man than a Mad Man "
The scabbard is what got me to lean towards the Krag,
It does look like the lower crossguard was removed.

My bust, I said 1898 but I should have said was US M1892.
Still Krag -ish
The Swiss have that raised section in the fuller close to the riccasso.(Scabbard spring lock)Not sure if thats correct name....
This blade shown does not.

It am also leaning towards Krag. The Krag was built on that same platform as the Swiss. The Swiss usually had a numbered cross guard. The scabbard is for the US Krag. The bayonet has been modified on both the top and bottom from the looks of it. Could even be entirely home made. Looks too crude.

Thanks guys, it does look crude and the no markings had me stumped.
A friend had it and I considered buying it, but I wanted to know something about it first.
I love the research and the ideas Phil. Good work, as I have not read that part prior.
I still think either heavily modified or home made Krag bayonet.
