Article about: Hello all, Bought this at a military fair last Sunday possibly German trench knife . Blade is solid but the handle although it fits in the hand perfect may be a later addition. Any ideas fro

    Hello all,
    Bought this at a military fair last Sunday possibly German trench knife .
    Blade is solid but the handle although it fits in the hand perfect may be a later addition.

    I have never seen this knife. My money is it is field made. The leather strap looks like it is from a helmet's chin strap.

    I too think the wood handle is a later addition.

    The scabbard also seems to have had a retention strap
    at one time, and it is missing it's chape (tip).

    The blade though, is very nicely made............!
