"Knuckle Duster" in the IDF ???
Months ago I saw a program on an internet platform from a German TV station which, "embedded", accompanied journalists ("embedded" in an IDF combat unit), during the two-week deployment of an Israeli reserve unit in the Gaza Strip.
Combat knives and trench daggers from the world wars are/were often discussed here in the forum.
The "Knuckle Duster" has also been discussed here in the WRF several times.
The "Knuckle Duster" is briefly explained there:
couteau de combat
Combat knives of this kind are actually banned almost everywhere (at least in Austria and Germany) and possession is prohibited.
Justifying this is obsolete and probably quite understandable! ...
The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) unit is a unit made up of reservists from the Paratrooper Battalion 8105 (motto: "We pave the way!"), whose origins can be found in the Yom Kippur War.
I took some screenshots from the TV report and I think I can recognize a "Knuckle Duster" on the equipment of one of the soldiers (a radio operator).
In another scene, a soldier (who volunteered to be the unit's "cook") uses a combat knife with a "tanto blade".
An etching can be seen on the blade, but I cannot interpret it.
In my opinion and after watching the film, I (as a "non-expert" in the field of combat knives) am of the opinion that this could actually be a combat knife in the style of a "Knuckle Duster".
It is well known and beyond question that Israel has imported combat knives and bayonets and also produced them itself.
If the pictures here really show a combat knife with an "integrated" "brass knuckles", I think it is a "privately purchased" knife that the radio operator carries on his equipment.
I could not see such a knife on other soldiers.
Do any of you have similar photos showing IDF soldiers with a "Knuckle Duster" on their equipment?
Bayonets in "Israeli service", imported from Wehrmacht stocks, or adapted and manufactured in Israel, have already been discussed here in the forum.
"Modern" edged weapons in use in the IDF, however, have so far been very rare! ...
Many thanks in advance,
R.

I don't know whether combat knives are "officially" issued to special units in the IDF.
Do any of you have any further information on this?

Cold Steel Chaos Trench Knife
Greetings,
The knuckleduster appears IMHO, to be a Cold Steel Brand Chaos Trench Knife. They come with several differing blade styles, but the handles all appear to look like the one in your screen shots.
Best Regards,
V/r Lance
