Most of these I see are numbered but not with what appears to be a unit or inventory number as your's has.

You probably already know this, but there are some Carcano rifles and carbines that bear signs of German capture and use, like depot stamps, added numbers or a blued bolt (or sometimes a combination of these). It makes me wonder if any of the bayonets received similar treatment, but all that I've seen have polished blades and appear to have been used as-is. There are some good photos of Ordnungspolizei units with captured Carcano bayonets in Yugoslavia in 1944.

Here you go. These are the pics I mentioned (via Bundesarchiv Foto). These could be as early as late 1943, but are more likely to be 1944 given the fact that they would not have the Model 1941 rifles until the Italian capitulation in September, 1943.

Nice photo find! I like seeing the photos of the Wehrmact using other nation weapons. I've seen a photo of them using the steyr m95/30 as well.

I've seen a few with Mannlicher carbines, but not many. I seek and save as many photos as I can of captured weapons in use. That's also my primary rifle and bayonet collecting focus.
