    Default Mexican combat knife

    Hello,

I would like to inquire about a somewhat unusual knife today, which I have never seen before.

I noticed it at an online auction and ended up buying it.

Did a little research on the internet, but couldn't really find anything informative about this knife, except that the provenance is probably Mexico and the period of manufacture probably dates back to the Second World War.

Have in the www. found the indication that a specimen of this model is known, on whose scabbard the (year ? ) number 1945 is written, and that knives of this type were probably used by the Mexican Navy.

The blade of the knife is strikingly reminiscent of the blade of the US KA-BAR (KABAR) and is heavily ground and polished on my copy, but I found it in the www. not many knives of this model that are in better condition can be found.

The stamping on the push button of the locking strap is barely legible, it can only be recognized as LIMITED.

The two halves of the leather sheath are sewn together and stapled together five times.

The blade is stamped on the outside / right side ("Terzseite") as follows:
    FUNDICION DE ARTILLERIA
    MEXICO

The dimensions and more detailed pictures will follow later.

Since the blade is ground, its length should originally have been a little more than I specified.

I myself only have a relatively small number of specialist books on combat knives and would be happy to receive further information from you about this combat knife / utility knife.

I would also be happy to refer to literature references in which this tactical knife is described in more detail.

    Thanks in advance,
    R.

Thanks for posting this very interesting and scarce knife. First I've seen. Yes, resembles a "K Bar" very much but then again why not go with a known design if you're going to make one...
