We went to a local (and very rural!) gun repair shop to discuss the possibility of the owner cleaning our rifles, and while I was there, I heard the owner mention something about a "bunch of surplus military stuff" being offloaded at his shop. I asked to see what he had, and most of it was postwar ammo and what not, but I also noticed this: A Swiss M1957 Bayonet for the Sturmgewehr 57. Postwar or not, it's a really cool bayonet, and for $45, not too bad of a deal. I also noticed 1944 dated U.S. live rounds and casings as well as a WWII practice artillery shell. I'm going there again soon to see about buying these up as well.

Nice bayonet! My thoughts on having someone else clean your guns. The best way to learn about them is to clean them yourself. You can get adequate cleaning supplies under the cost of having someone else clean one gun. Just my thoughts though.

I agree with Rescue about the cleaning but sometimes things happen for a reason. You wouldn’t have found this stuff if you hadn’t have gone in there. And make sure you post picks of that arty round when you go back in there!!

It's a striking bayonet design and a good one to begin your collection.
