Unknown british socket bayonets
Article about: Hi I have two british socket bayonets which I would like to identify. The measurements don't seem to match any other british bayonet of this type. Both have a sale mark and one of them has a

I believe this bayonet to be the Pattern 1876 bayonet, as used on the Martini Henry. The Pattern 1853 for the three band Enfield was slightly shorter.

Thanks, it is a Pattern 1876 bayonet, I hadn't checked the measurements for that bayonet.

Both types were bring out of service, X stamps.b.r.Andy

Yes, they could have been sold out of service to Spain at some point since I found them here. Maybe they were used in the Spanish Civil War since the Republicans had some really old equipment.
