Value Question on a bayonet
Hi,
Today i was offered a U.S, M1 long bayonet, the blade is the 16" one.
I know these a hard to come by as most were cut down to the 10"
blade, in 1942, It has no scabbard but the bayonet is in good condition. I would like to know the value of it, i dont want to pay to much.

Re: Value Question on a bayonet
Hi Dave, that is a very good price for today.
Back in the very early 1980's when I collected US kit, a good clean M1 Bayonet was about £15 to £20 max. Cut down ones were always less sought after. The early long (un cut) bayonets always commanded more money going for about £25. While a mint WW1 Springfield bayonet and M1910 scabbard was £30. I used to have examples of all of these. Long gone now.
Cheers, Ade.

i read the uncut ones are hard to come by now. Perhaps i can pick up a scabbard later.
