1957er Panzer grouping

[HPL2008]

I have had this award grouping for a Panzer veteran (name unfortunately unknown) for a while, but haven't shown it yet; so here it is now.

It consists of a cased EK I, a Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber, a medal bar with the EK II and the 3rd and 4th Class Long Service Awards and the matching ribbon bar, as well as 25 year membership pin from the DSKB [Deutscher Soldaten- und Kameradschaftsbund].

I had a 57er EK II as a young collector, but I didn't know what it was! Pre-Internet days.

As an afterthought, here is a direct comparison between the very early PKA seen above and a later piece from my collection:





The later piece is still nice enough, but the difference in quality is obvious. (For example, note how the turret and barrel are cut out on the early piece. Also, the early piece has highly polished details and edges, although this is not clearly visible in the photograph.)
