    Hello,

    no, West Germany was 1958/1959 not yet able to supply this quality of steel at that time. Eskilstuna Stalpressings A.B. made very good steel, the properties of which were required by the German armed forces. It wasn't until 1960/61 that West Germany was able to produce steel of the same and better quality.
    Eskilstuna Stalpressings A.B. also had decades of experience and international opportunities for comparison in the manufacture of shells, because the Bundeswehr went its own way with the M1A1 from 1958, because they rejected the US model M1 with its disadvantages.
