I want to restore this cap and wondered what insignia it would have and if anyone knows where I can get some from. I tried looking on ebay, but with no success.
Thanks.
PS I was not sure if this was the right forum.

Nice cap.
I am not sure what insignia that fits it.
Hi Jerry
You could ask talltom? Isn´t he the guy who collects similar items? Maybe he can help![]()
you mean me?
Jerry you have a early 60s cap for the rank of junior officer (leutenant to captain) as to insignia you are after a cloth anchor badge and a wire kokade see attached check ebay.de you will find one
yo and beholdMÜTZENKRANZ FÜR SCHIRMMÜTZE GOLD BOULLIONSTICKEREI | eBay
check with steve first to make sure its early enought![]()
Thanks Tom, I already knew the rank but did not know what insignia and where to get it. Thanks for the link, but I want one in a similar condition to the cap, not a mint one and also it seems a bit expensive, as the cap was part of a deal and did not really cost anything. Thanks again Tom and to Steve and Chris for commenting.
Now I know what to look for which is really helpful![]()

Jerry

Jerry, nice early Marine cap....for the rank of Leutnant zur See to Korvettenkapitan (Junior Officer ranks), it is missing its national cockade and Naval/Marine emblem, these are available on e-bay, just got to know where to look....see here, illustrations from a 1960 Bundeswehr publication "Unsere Soldaten" (Our Soldiers !) and a 1963 "Reiberts" (Soldiers manual).
Prost ! Steve.

Jerry, with your cap being an Officers, bullion insignia will be used, on earlier caps it will be two separate badges, a cockade and a Navel emblem....as on this cap. I also show an enlisted/NCO cap to show the metal insignia which is displayed upon their caps......
Prost ! Steve.
Re-opened......
