Re: scarce BW fighting knife
I owned one that was produced/issued in the early 1980s, and I can honestly say that I was not impressed with the quality; the spring in the sheath broke off, and the grip seemed flimsily constructed. A disappointment, as I was expecting traditional German quality workmanship...Glenn

...
Very interesting: this particular knife, (I bought on a flea market today), came together with a scabbard of the 1st BW, trial, combat knife !
...
Here´s the, seldom seen, 1st Pattern Bundeswehr trial knife, made bei Carl Eickhorn, Solingen.
Overall lenght: 252 mm
Blade lenght: 144 mm
Very nice, this field knife is personalised !
The, (former), owner´s name and rank: Ullrich G., NCO
Cheers,
R.
