    Hello everyone,

I am interested in buying this visor, and would like to get the opinions of people on this forum before doing so. Below are some images, according to the tag it is made by Clemens Wagner. There seems to be remnants of the gold paint inside the celluloid/cellophane where its worn off the liner. Some of the celluloid/cellophane over the gold SS runes also seems to be chipped off which I think is also a good sign. Sweat band to my knowledge also seems to be sewn in properly. Any input is much appreciated.

Not too sure what to make out of this one. There were Wagner Sonderanfertigungen with this kind of lining for EM/NCO. If the sweatshield was plastic, this would be no good sign but I think you mean celluloid/cellophane. The ruins of the runes could be a good sign - the pictures don't show this clear enough. What makes me think is that there are empty stichholes in the upper part of the black RZM-tag as if this had been sewed in before elsewhere. And the bill ist getting loose on the right side of the cap. It also doesn't have the typical CW-shape, but this could be due to bad storage/personal taste. Looking forward to reading the specialists' opinions.

The shape is also something that caught my eye as well ErWeSa, and was a concern of mine. It's also missing the RZM stamp on the underside of the bill, but that could of just worn off with age. I'm looking forward to hearing other opinions as well. You are indeed correct, I meant celluloid/cellophane. I've attached a better closeup of the ruins of the runes. As you can see there are indeed some remnants of gold paint under the sweat shield notably a large chunk in the middle/lower left.

I can't see any size stamp above/below the runes - can you? Wagner Sonderanfertigung caps often had this. I also don't know a thing about insignia, waiting for the specialists to comment on these.

Hey ErWeSa! There does not seem to be any visible remnants of a size stamp from the photos I have.

I believe the cap is a good one of an earlier make based on the wool and the shape of the cap. However that tag is suspect for two reasons. The serial number indicates a cap of a much later make and the holes that Wofgang referred to. I don't believe this is a Clemens Wagner cap just the rzm label is. The insignia are fine. Also there were some makers like Heinrich Wille that often did not stamp the bill.

As for EM / NCO Sonderanfertigung caps, I have one by Muller

Hey Aldo, appreciate the input! So in your opinion this is most likely an authentic cap with a fake tag or repurposed tag from another cap?

Yes, I believe the cap is good as well as the tag but it was taken from a cap of later make and placed in there to "enhance"
This is just my opinion. Unfortunately there is no substitute for physical inspection. Good Luck

Thanks for all the wonderful information Aldo! I would like to hear some more opinions as well on this visor if anybody has one. Or if anyone sees anything wrong with this visor other then it having an improper rzm tag. I am really considering trying to purchase it.
