Hi there, I bought this cap and searched on the internet for more info. I found this site and hope there is anyone who can help me identify this cap.

    I think it's a Reichsautobahn-polizei cap, but I am not sure. I found a simular one on usmbooks.com

There has been an eagle attached on the upper part of the cap. But when I bought it, it was already missing.

The blue of the cap is much darker then on the photo. I used a flashlight.

On the inside I can read the name of Albert Kempf KG. The plastic is gone but the letters left marks on the lining.

Sorry, but it is a postwar Bundesbahn visor.

Thanks! But can you explain me how that is possible? The kokarde is black, white and red for the kaiserreich. And according to my knowledge no longer used after WW2. The kokarde is all original.

    Hi

as my colleague stated it's post war cap. The main give away is that the celluloid has been removed because it may have been plastic. It has air vents in the side of the cap and this is also common on post 1945 caps.

The cockade is real enough but has been added to enhance the cap IMO the one plus is that the cockade is worth some money.

The cap is made by Albert Kempf but he also amde post ww2 caps for both civilian and military.

    sorry but hope this helps.

    cheers

Gray leather sweatband and underside of the visor as well as the non-twisted chincords all give it away as BRD.

Cockades are very easy to replace, adn are commonly available, both real and repro.

My recommendation is to post before you buy.

Thank you very much for the info! You have helped me very well. I payed 12,50 Euro for 2 alte Schirmmütze. So thats ok I think. If they had been more expensive I would not have bought them. And if I find something expensive in future I will post before I buy. Good luck with your lovely forum. I will be back
