As far as I know this is not DLV, but "Deutsche Luftfahrt".
Golden embroidery was only worn by the minister and state-
secretary (Reichsminister and Staatssekretär der Luftfahrt).
As such it is mentioned in the regulation "Bekleidung der
    Deutschen Luftfahrt
    " from November 4, 1933.

I do not comment about authenticy, just as how it is mentioned
    in a regulation
. In my "Deutsche Lufthansa"-book I do have
from both persons a photograph, but they are from a distance
and one cannot see any detail. There is anyway a difference in
its form for the top, as with the shown one, so!

There are no generals in this organization, neither in the DLV.
Normally I would not have answered when this is a cap as shown
at WAF (and I think it is), but for the WRF-members I do. I know
with regularity opinions are asked at WAF about headgear (I will
never again give at that forum an opinion). So, if other caps are shown,
and I am aware of it, being from WAF, I will pass and give no answer!

Wim, thanks for your generous sharing of information (once again).

The hat is original, but the question is whether or not it was once an officer visor and the insignia has been swapped out.

I have no idea if the insignia ever was replaced or changed,
stonemint. I know this cap. I have had it several times in
my hands over the years, but I did not notice any deviations.

The owner is a friend of mine. He asked another person
(I guess this is the person who posted the cap on WAF.
By the way: he is one of the reasons I turned my back to
the WAF). My friend asked him to ask about opinions. He
is intending to sell the cap and more materials from his
enormous collection. The prices will be high, up to even
ridiculous! For many or most collectors hardly impossible
    to buy!

Here is another photo from the cap shown, as well as one
with aluminum embroidery from the same collection. The
photos I know, published in my Lufthansa-book, do have
a somewhat other top (1933 form), and so were worn in
1933 and 1934 by Göring and Milch. The shown cap is
from about 1934/1935, I guess. Those "boys" will have
owned more then one cap. That's for sure!

My friend from Belgium always makes books from stuff
from his collection. I have now three of them, loaded
with nazi stuff. Great sources for identification....

Once again: WAF is for me a "no go area"! Too much
grumblers, windbags and hypocrites. Knowing all, but
have hardly ever seen a proper regulation.

Don't you think the actual owners, as mentioned (Reich-minister and state-secretary) needed to adapt or swop insignia for their standards?
They had enough money to buy a second or third visored cap. By the way they had their functions from the beginnings for the organization!

Nor have these grumlbers, windbags and hypocrites much capacity to comprehend historical complexity in its rich variety.
Hurray for Wim and that is a nice Clemens Wagner cap of early make and pleasing quality.
