fake or real cap ?

The eagle is an ss eagle and probably fake but the cap looks good

Probably a semi stripped cap that someone has put the wrong eagle on..... take it off, then its history is not spoiled.

the cap is an original period Peküro cap, the ones without the lining of the side-panels the so-called "Rosshaarverarbeitung". It lacks the sweatband, though - just the black velvet band to which the actual (leather or Ersatz) sweatband was sewn to remains. If the eagle was an original you'd be un veinard as the French say for lucky devil. I don't know as I don't know anything about insignes.
